Know what you’re covered for before you drive.
Standard Damage Cover is included in your rental price. It is subject to the rental agreement, a $4,500 excess for each incident and important conditions explained below.
What is included
Standard Damage Cover applies to authorised drivers for accidents on sealed roads. Subject to the agreement, it covers damage to the rental car, theft or attempted theft, towing and recovery, and third-party property damage. It is included in the advertised rental price—there is no separate daily Damage Cover charge.
Your $4,500 excess
You are liable for an excess of up to $4,500 for each separate accident, incident or theft. Bubblegum Cars may charge the full excess after an incident while repair and associated costs are being determined. If the final covered costs are less than $4,500, the balance is refunded once those costs are finalised. A separate excess can apply to each separate incident.
The $200 bond is different
The refundable $200 security bond is not the Damage Cover excess and does not limit what may be payable after damage or a breach. The bond is normally returned after the car is inspected, provided it is returned on time to Bounce, fully fuelled and without new damage.
When cover does not apply
Damage Cover does not apply to accidents on unsealed roads or on West Point Road, Arthur Bay Road or Radical Bay Road. It can also be lost after a major breach, including an unauthorised driver, reckless or unlawful use, driving under the influence, or failing to follow the accident-reporting requirements. Other exclusions include overhead damage, underbody damage, water immersion, keys and personal belongings. Read the complete agreement before signing.
If something happens
Stop safely and contact Bubblegum Cars immediately. Do not admit fault or promise payment. Record the other driver’s contact and registration details, take photographs of the vehicles, damage and surrounding area, collect witness details, and contact police where required. Do not continue driving a damaged car unless Bubblegum Cars expressly authorises you to do so.
Before you book
There is one standard $4,500 excess for every eligible driver, including drivers aged 18–24. Bubblegum Cars does not currently offer an excess-reduction product. Please also read the rental rules and the complete agreement shown during booking.
